THE FIRST TIME RENTER'S CHEKCLIST
Redefining the rental experience in London, Vertus brings together quality of service and flexible tenancies for first-time renters. Make your first move into a build-to-rent apartment smooth and stress-free.
Ticking The Right Boxes
There’s so much to consider when you’ve never rented before. For starters, how do you even begin looking for a property that’s the right fit? When you have found a place, how do you choose what to pack? This first-time renter checklist helps you to answer those questions.
Choose the right property for you
Not all apartments are equal. Explore the three buildings in the Vertus portfolio and find the one that suits your lifestyle. Each of our buildings — 10 George Street, 8 Water Street, and Newfoundland — have a unique character and different amenities, though all benefit from Vertus Plus.
Consider whether you need a flexible tenancy and if you want a pet. Think about whether you want amenities such as a gym, a bar, screening room, children’s play area, terraces, and landscaped gardens. It’s the perfect option when you want to soak up a social atmosphere but don’t want a roommate.
Research the location
Location’s next on the first -time renter’s checklist. Our apartments put you in the midst of Canary Wharf’s parks, shops, and venues. You’re always on the doorstep of varied and exciting events programmes and a green space to breathe.
If you won’t be working from home, you’ll also need to consider your commute to work—the Estate is conveniently connected to the rest of London via public transport, with access to the Jubilee Line and DLR too.
The way a property is managed is also important. With Vertus, you can enjoy the assistance of a dedicated move-in team, a concierge, on-site management, and cleaning services.
Consider your budget
Budget is an important consideration for first-time renters. Vertus makes things easier as there are no hidden fees. You simply need to budget for rental, groceries, transportation, and other necessities when calculating your costs.
Prepare your application
When you’ve found an apartment or building to call home, it’s time to prepare your application. As you can see from our FAQs, Vertus makes it easy to apply for and manage your rental.
Prepare an essentials checklist
When you know that your application was successful, you should prepare a first-time apartment renter list of essentials to bring with you. Use our first time renter checklist as your guide. This checklist is divided into four categories: Pre-Move-In, Move-In, Settling In, and Finishing Touches:
- Pre-Move-In: include creating a budget, researching neighborhoods, and finding a suitable rental property.
- Move-In: include inspecting the rental property, documenting any damages, and setting up utilities.
- Settling In: include unpacking and organising belongings, getting to know the area, and meeting neighbors.
- Finishing Touches: include personalising the rental space, arranging for any necessary repairs or maintenance, and renewing the lease or finding a new rental property.
Our apartments are fully furnished, which makes packing problem-free, and you can choose from studios and one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.
Feel secure in your decision, landlord, and location
According to Property Industry Eye, a YouGov study on behalf of Shelter found that almost half of renters don’t feel safe or secure because of letting agents’ or landlords’ behaviour. You don’t need to worry about that when you’re a first-time renter with Vertus. We’ve redefined high-end renting with our high-quality apartments, professional management, concierge, and dedicated move-in team.
