The New Foodies in Canary Wharf

Already home to some of the best restaurants in London, Canary Wharf now welcomes a host of new dining experiences and street food meccas.

Discover the new eateries arriving on the Estate.

The New Foodies in Canary Wharf

Pergola. Emilia's Crafted Pasta. M Restaurant. A collection of tasty new experiences enriching the Estate’s already diverse dining scene to make it one of the best areas for restaurants in London. But where exactly and what specifically will they bring to the Vertus lifestyle, both in Newfoundland, 10 George Street and over in Wood Wharf?

Mercato Metropolitano: Unmissable London Street Food.

‘MMy Wood Wharf’ is a new neighbourhood concept served up by sustainable community market operator Mercato Metropolitano (MM). Known for their vibrant Mayfair and Elephant & Castle markets and humble Milanese origins, they’re bringing the same commitment to fresh, healthy, natural ingredients to Canary Wharf.

Setting their stalls out over two floors at 10 George Street, they’ve established Wood Wharf’s first cornerstone – its premier public, social and London street food hub. The upper level will be home to artisanal kitchens and a deli/grocery- style offering including delicious European cheeses, freshly baked focaccia and organic wines sourced from small vineyards. Meanwhile, the lower floor will have its very own live jazz music venue as well as space for a programme of activities designed to engage and inspire the local community.

A modern, community-minded street food mecca and marketplace promoting healthy living through organic ingredients, ‘MMy Wood Wharf’ will continue the brand’s mission to support diversity of cultures and cuisines. And it’s the perfect place for every occasion, from an evening bite after work to weekend wayfarers popping in after a busy morning browsing the malls.

Mercato's new restaurant arriving in Wood Wharf soon

Hawksmoor: moored up for waterside dining in the heart of Wood Wharf.

One of Water Square’s floating pavilions (right opposite 8 Water Street) will soon welcome Hawksmoor’s first new London restaurant in four years. A renowned cornerstone in the city’s dining scene, this new joint will be its largest yet with a 150-cover restaurant and a 120-cover bar over 3 floors.

Even above, no space has been spared. A green roof planted with colourful wildflowers and grasses will encourage insects such as bees while contributing to the Estate’s carbon capture.

Hawksmoor’s unique location floating on one of Wood Wharf’s many waterways will mean plenty of waterside seating making for a calm and relaxed dining environment, while menus will tantalise taste buds with the same favourites they’ve become celebrated for – ‘dictionary-thick’ steaks and tender ribs continuing to uphold the brand’s meaty character – as well as exciting new dishes that mark a return to normality after many months of disruption.

The London Project: Discover ‘London Eclectic’ in an English country garden.

Splashing out from the crystal clear waters of Dubai comes the London Project, an all-day (and night) destination that’s so much more than dinner. With a restaurant, bar, its own on-site gin distillery, as well as art and music, it will offer a diverse and enriching experience floating right beside Hawksmoor in Water Square’s other waterborne pavilion.

Dedicated to serving ‘London eclectic’, they’ve curated a gastronomic medley sampling some of the best cuisine and culture from across London and the world. Cosmopolitan meets family recipe and global meets local here in a bold fusion of flavours which collide on the plate to create sensational new tastes seared with soul and sophistication.

Their interior design takes a leaf out of the timeless English Country Garden aesthetic (there’s an enchanting fairy tale vibe about it), but it’s been cut with a dash of members’ club chic. Low hanging statement lighting and exposed wood, brick and stone lend a sense of effortless charm and personality to establish the Estate’s latest unmissable experience.

Emilia’s Crafted Pasta: Enter a bustling trattoria in the heart of Wood Wharf.

With a custom-designed kitchen and bar areas open for diners to watch the theatrics of drinks and dishes being prepared, Emilia’s finds the perfect balance of a vibrant yet cosy dinner setting. Signature soul-warming pasta dishes created with fresh ingredients and served with simplicity is a nod to Emilia’s sustainable ethos which harmonises with Wood Wharf’s commitment to creating a sustainable 24/7 location to live, work and play.

Founder Andrew is excited to bring “hand-crafted pasta just like Nonna would have made to more and more people, this time in one of London’s most exciting developments in a beautiful setting surrounded by gardens and water”. Emilia's in Wood Wharf has been designed with a concept unique to Canary Wharf, fusing classic dishes made with 100% natural ingredients and a traditional Italian game of bocce, to create a new fun space where people can walk in and enjoy a coffee, fresh plate of pasta, or a spot of competitive socialising.

Welcome home to 10 George Street with its new neighbour, Emilia’s, situated on the ground floor overlooking the water. The perfect place to enjoy alfresco dining and devour handmade crafted, pasta freshly made every morning at the restaurant in the window in full view of passers by in Canary Wharf’s new neighbourhood.

Pergola on the Wharf: The new London restaurant dedicated to good times.

Pergola has shifted its sights eastwards, making Canary Wharf the scene of its latest social spot. Hanging gardens hit the rooftop to create a hedonistic hideaway soaked in verdant greens and strewn with living flora, vines and ferns, making you feel a world away held under its irresistible spell... all part of the Pergola experience.

Designed as a botanical waterside Eden, this carefully measured aesthetic is well-suited to its home amidst the dense foliage of Crossrail Place Roof Gardens. Panoramic views from a wraparound heated terrace elevate the experience while, inside, three bars, an eclectic array of food pop ups, several areas for private parties and plenty of space for revellers to enjoy weekend festivals, DJ sets and other live music complete the ensemble.

Pergola has always changed its stripes when required, and you can expect a similarly seasonal approach to the food offering here in Canary Wharf, though always aligned with their brand’s ‘Earth, Land and Sea’ culinary code. Partnering with only the best brewers, distillers and wine merchants, they’ve made sure the grape and grain match the grub while fuelling festivities, even as the small hand ticks over onto single figures.
